Greeting from our conference team of TU Munich

Dear colleagues,

"Next Generation Pathology" - with this motto we organize the annual meeting of the German Society for Pathology (DGP) 2024 in Munich, and are looking forward to welcoming you in high numbers.

The chosen motto now has - in an unplanned way - a double meaning. As an interdisciplinary, future-oriented team, consisting of pathologists and non-pathologists, we organize the conference 2024 in Munich in memory of our late institute director and conference president, Prof. Wilko Weichert.

Together with him, we defined the future topics for German pathology that are essential in our view and have set these topics as interdisciplinary priorities for our annual conference.

Molecular pathology is the basis for personalized, patient-centered diagnostics and therapy. The interaction of clinical colleagues with us pathologists and the individual interdisciplinary case discussion, including somatic molecular findings, is an essential field of development of today's medicine - in oncology and beyond.

The application of artificial intelligence - i.e. computer-aided image analyses - to histological tissue preparations is another innovative development within the field of pathology. It will no doubt sustainably fascinate us in the coming years and decades, especially with regard to our offspring development, and will give the pathology of the future a new face.

We see experimental and comparative pathology as another major field of development, especially including translational research approaches, the integration and comparison of the pathology of animal models and corresponding human pathology.

On behalf of Wilko Weichert, we look forward to welcoming you in 2024 in Munich to a certainly special, definitely inspiring and future-oriented conference!
